Adding Things To The DatabaseThese links allow you to add comedy clubs, open mics, your own biography, improv troupes, festivals, talent agents and casting calls. In order to add a new open mic, you simply fill out all the required information about the venue. The system will send you a link via email to confirm your posting. Once you confirm your post the new venue will appear in the database. Registered members can add private venues as well that only they will see when logged in. #1: Adding Open Mics: In order to add an open mic you must know the day on which it occurs, the venue's name, the full address, the time it starts and the phone number. If you are adding an open mic to the California you will also need to specify a division, for instance Orange County, the Inland Empire or the Greater Los Angeles Area. You can also give optional information like a booker, a website and the amount of stage time you are given there. If you are a registered member your submission will simply appear in the database. If you are not it will simply need to be confirmed by email. You may also add optional information like a website, a myspace page, the day which open mic is help and details about drink minimums and the menu available. Once you add the club, you will receive an email asking you to confirm the post. Simply click on the link in that email and the club will appear. If you are a registered member the club will simply appear in the database Help File: Comedy Club Database | On Adding Comedy Clubs. #3: Adding Your Biography: This site allows comedians to submit full biographies. Included in the required information is your union affliations, first and last name, your email address, a place to find your headshot, your state and phone number [you can list this as private]. Optional information includes your website, MySpace as well as the URL of your blog, audio and video clips. Once submitted you will be able to use the calendar system to announce upcoming shows that get promoted on this site for no charge. At the moment, those shows get announced the night they happen on every page of the site and are automatically deleted the next day. In other words, those little notes that say where I'll be on Friday and Saturday are available to everyone. The required information to add a sketch troupe is the name of the troupe, the full address, the phone number and the state. Optional information includes the average cost of the shows, a description of any comedy classes held through the troupe as well as a troupe MySpace and website. Once submitted, you must confirm the submission through an email that will be sent to you, unless you are a registered member. The class information will become available on the comedy class page as well, once the submission is confirmed. The site allows for submissions of new festivals and contests. The required information includes the name of the festival, the address to submit applications at, the city the festival takes place at and the deadline for submissions. Optional information includes a website, the name of the booker, an email address and the cost for submitting anything to the festival. Like all other categories, unless you are a registsred member, your submission must be confirmed via email before appearing in the database. Help File: Comedy Festivals | On Adding Comedy Festivals. #6: Adding Talent Agents: The agency database requires an agent name, address, contact, phone number, state and if the agent accepts headshots from new clients. You also need to specify is this a talent agency, a casting agency or a manager for entertainers. Optional information includes the agency website, an email address, a MySpace page, union affliliations and detailed information about what the agency is looking for. The way this database was set up was in the hopes of making it useful to the talent agents themselves. That said, please email me if any information is out of date. Help File: Talent Agents | On Adding Talent Agents. #7: Adding Casting Calls: Adding casting calls is rather simple. All you need to do is give the casting call a title and tell me are you looking for comic actors, stand-up comics, comedy writers or musical comics. You can set the call to expire in one, two, three or four weeks. Unlike other submissions, you can not approve the casting call except through the webmaster. You may also add optional information including a phone number, an address, the city and state, possible pay, an email contact and a related website. You may also specify that you are looking for someone capable of doing a clean show, this was added to make the casting call system more useful to corporate bookers. Help File: Casting Calls | On Adding Talent Agents. #8: Adding Comedy Classes: Adding comedy classes is a relatively new feature. It was created to allow registered users to promote and control any comedy classes they teach. All information is required including your name, the city, the state, a phone number, a website, a MySpace page, the cost, how long the class lasts and how many levels of classes you teach. If you can't provide one of these things, for instance, if there is no MySpace page for the class you can simply put none. Help File: Comedy Classes | On Adding Comedy Classes. |
