Shayne-Michael.COMedy's Promotional Tools

These links allow you to promote yourself as a comedian or your upcoming shows. They will allow you to make flyers, mailing labels, business cards, list your biography here or simply add a link to your home page. Some of these tools work best with Internet Explorer, like the flyer program. And some, like the business cards and mailing labels, require internet explorer or they will not work properly.

#1: Making Flyers: The link that says Make Flyers should bring up a separate window. That window will look much cleaner in Internet Explorer, though I am working on making it compatiable with Net Scape and Firefox. Once at that page you can click on any part of the flyer to change it's contents. When you have finished you can email yourself the finished flyer or create the HTML that will allow you to post the finished flyer on your website.

#2: Using The Switchboard: The Switchboard was created to allow comedians to promote their own website when they didn't want to submit an entire biography. It allows you to simply tell surfers what's available at that website including a bio, a calendar, audio and video clips, merchandise and a blog. Once sumbitted, registered members can update and control their links through the control panel. Initially, all links need to be approved by the webmaster before they will appear on the site. There is no help file for this tool, but it's very easy to use.

#3: Your Biography: This was created in the tradition of the Comedy Exchange, the Comedy Click and the former comedian database at HeyLady. You can put in enough information that bookers can screen by union affliation, your credits and what you're capabale of. Registered members can edit their biography at the control panel. Submitting a biography also makes it possible for you to use the calendars and onsite promotion of upcoming shows.

#4: Using Personal Calendars: Personal calendars are available to anyone who has submitted a biography. This allows you to announce upcoming shows with the click of a link in any database. At the bottom of the clubs, improv troupes and open mics is a link in italics that says Add. Once you've submitted a biography that link becomes active and allows you to announce any upcoming shows at that venue. The shows you announce are also promoted all over this site the day they happen and I'm working on a system that will create an automatic advertising campaign.

#5: Labels and Business Cards: This page requires Internet Explorer. But it's worth downloading just to use this page. This page allows you to print out mailing labels for all comedy clubs in the database, all talent agents, make post cards, make business cards, make labels for CDs, audio tapes, DVDs and video tapes. The system will tell you which Avery or Geographic product you need to buy to make use of the page. This is a former HeyLady Platinum tool, now here for everyone's use for free. Please bear in mind, it will not work on Firefox, and at least for now, I have no clue how to make it work on firefox.
